Bon Iver Releases New EP!

Jesus christ! When you think of Bon Iver you think of some overly-emotional, whimsical figure, not fucking Joe Calzaghe! So yeah, whilst Bon Iver has earnt a lot of praise and a little bit of money for some new gangsta threads with "For Emma, Forever Ago" , he has been working away the whole time on new material. And this new material will come to fruition on 19th January 2009, when he will release "Blood Bank" on Jagjaguwar.

Having had the privilege of receiving "Blood Bank" last week, I can confirm that you should be excited about it! It's no filler, not a bad hangover from (relative) debut album fame, but is still a progression from an album that is sure to dominate end of year lists. This progression comes in the form of more band centred songs, and more complex production, showcased beautifully on "Woods" where Bon Iver's haunting vocals are put through an auto-tuner and vocoder, producing a sound somewhere between Imogen Heap's "Hide & Seek" and Kanye West's new album. And that can only be good. Anybody who thought that Justin Vernon was a one hit wonder has been proved wrong; roll on album number two.

'woods' is bad-ass.
ive played it about 60 times in the last week. i couple it with the raveonettes 'christmas (baby please come home)' putting the raveonettes first and bon iver second. after both of those songs, im in a serious pseudo-chrismassy, just plain far-out mood. i just play the both of them and then let the silence kick in. anyways, hats off to bon iver for this amazing track(great lyrics too)
